Ági a múlt hét folyamán az ENSZ Gazdasági és Szociális Tanácsának Ifjúsági Fórumán vett részt New Yorkban, melynek célja, hogy a fiatalok kifejthessék véleményüket és javaslataikat az ENSZ Fenntartható Fejlődési Céljainak megvalósításához. Dr. Illés Boglárka helyettes államtitkár asszony beszédét követően Ági is felszólalt a magyar ifjúság képviseletében és beszédében kifejtette, a jelenlegi ifjúsági klímamozgalmakkal a fiatalok bebizonyították elkötelezettségüket az ENSZ 2030-as agendájának megvalósításához és megmutatták ehhez kapcsolódó innovatív ötleteiket. Azonban ahhoz, hogy a Fenntartható Fejlődési Célok kollektív megvalósításában a fiatalok is részt vehessenek, fontos, hogy lehetőséget kapjanak a bennük lévő tehetség kiteljesítéséhez. Így a fórum jelmondatával összhangban arra kérte a tagállamokat, hogy nemétől, vallásától, etnikai, gazdasági-szociális hátteréről vagy esetleges fogyatékosságától függetlenül biztosítsanak minden ember számára egyenlő jogokat és lehetőségeket, illetve adják meg a szükséges extra segítséget a hátrányos helyzetű fiataloknak a bennük rejlő potenciál kiteljesítéséhez. Csak közösen érhetjük el, hogy szebb legyen a jövő.
Ágnes represented the young people of Hungary at the UN’s ECOSOC Youth Forum. In her speech, she highlighted that “with the recent climate marches for climate justice, children and young people all over the world have provided the evidence that they have the ideas and initiatives to contribute to the realisation of the 2030 Agenda. Through the youth-led forum, Visegrad Youth for Climate Action, young Hungarians have also highlighted the importance of tackling climate change and protecting the environment. To allow youth to be part of this collaborative endeavour, young people need to be provided with the opportunities for doing so through participatory decision-making, education and labour market inclusion. However, the provision of opportunities in itself is not enough, as millions of young people are in need of extra support to become catalysers of positive change. Therefore, resonating with the mission statement of this forum, “empowered, included and equal”, I would like to urge all Member States to grant equal rights to all human beings both on paper and practice, and provide all young people with the support they need for realising their potential, regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic background or perceived disability. We imagine the world with greater equality, prosperity, peace, health and environmental safety for the generations to come and upon being provided with the opportunities for doing so, we are ready to work together for the creation of a better world.”
